Skiddle live video coverage

As a company we first started experimenting with live video content properly in 2015 and 2016, utilising Periscope for artist and insider interviews and then the storytelling possibilities of Snapchat and Instagram to add extra weight to our event coverage. The next step for us was live streaming of events and panels on via Facebook and YouTube, something we now do via our Livestream account.

To date we’ve delivered live streams across a variety of clubnights, festivals and gigs. These have included an interview with former Charlatans frontman and all-around indie superhero Tim Burgess (as part of our Independent Venue Week sponsorship initiative, main picture), chats with Joris Voorn and Jackmaster at Creamfields, live sets from DJs such as Sonny Fodera (watch above), Andrew Weatherall and Eats Everything, plus a brand partnership with Clash Mag and streaming an entire stage at Liverpool festival the Baltic Weekender.

From this point onwards we will be looking to increase the frequency of our coverage, utilising YouTube as well. The plan is to bring more live performances to our social networks, in particular our Facebook page, covering our gigs, clubs and festivals remit. We’re also looking to create more TED style panels to help spread ideas and discourse about the challenges the industry faces, something we currently do through our partnership with Floortalks (watch our most recent stream with them).

If you want to get involved in this coverage that we’re planning then please get in touch with Jimmy Coultas and Becca Frankland, on jimmy@skiddle.com and becca@skiddle.com.
