Skiddle Sponsors Preston Sports Awards – Could Preston Grasshoppers Win Again?

Will the second team at Preston Grasshoppers RFC be successful again at this year’s Preston Sports Awards and scoop ‘Team Performance of the Year’? Returning to sponsor the event this year and having sponsored the School Team of the Year (Secondary) category in 2013, Skiddle is proud to sponsor Team Performance of the Year (Senior Team) category this year.

This was yet another accolade for the Preston Grasshoppers, completing a very successful 2012/13 season. They finished second in the Bateman Premier League, only missing the top spot on points difference, along with winning the Raging Bull Cup final to collect the trophy for the first time since 2006.

Team coach, John Young, is obviously very proud of the team’s achievements. He said: “Many observers of the game rate the Hoppers 2nd best ‘second’ team in the North West. It was frustrating to lose the league title on points as our performances had been outstanding all season.

“We are currently third in the league and, unfortunately, have been plagued by recent injuries, but we are still striving for top place this season.

“Receiving the Team Performance of the Year at last year’s Sports Awards spurred us on and we would love to be nominated, and even win, again. The team can’t wait for the awards ceremony in March.”

In 2014, the category is sponsored by Preston-based Skiddle.com, the UK’s largest and busiest what’s on guide, and one of the country’s leading primary ticket outlets. Their impressive growth saw 10 million people using the website in 2013, with 2.5 million using Skiddle to organise their new year’s eve celebrations alone.
