We’re delighted to once again be managing the ticketing for the BBC Radio 1 academy, returning for a third year after previously delivering it when the radio station visited Exeter in 2016 and Norwich in 2015. It proves Skiddle’s capability in consistently living up to expectations for high profile accounts, with a number of our new initiatives being adopted by the station this year, Waiting List and Remind Me. Both these are done to make sure that attendance is as high as possible for each event, offering the opportunity for the events to reach as many people as possible – hugely important considering their purpose.
The Academy is part of the station’s drive to empower more young people to get involved within creative industries, offering the chance for workshops with a variety of career paths explored and explained across a five day period. A cabal of musicians, DJs, journalists and promoters will all offer advice and share their personal stories, in the build up to the monolithic showcase of popular music that forms the showpiece Radio 1 event each year – One Big Weekend.

All week we’re down at OPENNorwich for the #R1Academy run by BBC Radio 1. Hands down the highlight was Leona Lewis getting drenched for Scott Mills’ Innuendo Bingo yesterday

This year Hull is the destination, celebrating the fact that the Humberside metropolis has been recognised as the UK City of Culture 2017. All the academy events will take place in the Albemarle Music Centre, with Charlie Sloth, You and Me at Six, Professor Green and many more imparting their wisdom (read more about the BBC Radio 1 Academy events). There’s also a number of live shows broadcast, offering an inside view of how the radio shows take place. And the opportunity to catch stars like Leona Lewis playing Innuendo Bingo (above).
The station will be using our newly updated Rapidscan App across iOS to navigate entry, with the tickets available through a tailor made BBC Radio 1 & Skiddle white label.
