More Than A Ticket Shop: Full details revealed ahead of our Festival pop-up in London next week

Gig tickets, raves and festivals? They’re our bread and butter. But from time to time, we like to contribute to the culture around the tickets we sell events for.

It’s why we’re launching a pop-up event at Bethnal Green’s Industrial Events Space from the 22nd to the 25th of February. ‘More Than A Ticket Shop’ is the name, and there’ll be a load of different events for you to get your teeth into.

Wednesday

Kicking off the pop-up on Wednesday is our promoter social. Our team know that collaboration is where the inspiration happens, so why not come down, drink some Skiddle beers, eat some bagels and plan some ideas with kindred spirits from the industry? The social will be soundtracked by Cody Currie and friends, so expect knockout tunes and a great atmosphere.

Thursday

On Thursday, you’ll be able to chat with other attendees and do some networking. Then, the pop-up really gets going. Across two sessions – 11am-1pm & 2pm-4pm – you’ll be able to get behind the decks and receive a mixing masterclass courtesy of On The Rise DJ academy.

Based in Wembley, On The Rise has been offering DJ and music production classes on a group and one-to-one basis for several years. The workshops will be headed up by On The Rise founder Terry Hooligan, DJ and label owner with respected underground credentials. Terry’s worked with acts like The Prodigy, Viper Recordings and Stanton Warriors.

City Splash will kick off the evening programme with a takeover on Thursday. From 6pm-10pm, you’ll be able to hear YNG CPTN’s rhythmic blend of amapiano, afrobeats and funky house; reggae and sound system vibes from Rebel Clash and the dancefloor-ready sounds of DJ and producer JULS.

Reggae, dancehall and afrobeats are at the heart of what City Splash do, and their takeover is sure to get the body moving.

Friday

Want to hoover up some new information? Friday’s for you. We’ll be hosting a range of panels where you can gain insights from some leading names in the industry.

First up is GetAhead. From 11am-11:45am, they’ll be delivering a talk about mental health in music. GetAhead’s co-founder and CEO, Jenni Cochrane, will lead the panel; Grace Flynn, Ben Mount and more will join her.

As we said earlier, festivals are our bread and butter. So, we’ll be hosting a talk titled ‘How To Put on A Festival’. It’ll run from 1pm-1:45pm, with Land Beyond’s programmer Damien Fell on hand to talk about the moving parts of running, promoting and booking a festival.

From 3pm-3:45, Matt Dodds from Ditto Management will join Laurie Charlesworth for the Young Urban Arts Foundation’s talk ‘Accessing The Industry for Young People’. Cultivating the next generation is crucial, and the talk will aim to demystify the process of getting into the music industry for young people.

Then, it’s on to some hard-hitting sounds with Hospitality. The events arm of legendary drum & bass label Hospitality Records has spread the sound of D&B across Europe, from London, Croatia, Albania and beyond. They’ll be hosting an open deck session from 6pm-8:30pm, with a special headliner lined up til 10pm.

Saturday

GetAhead will return on Saturday, taking over the whole day with a programme related to well-being. From 10am til 5pm, you’ll be able to get baking tips, have a laugh with Dave Chawner’s Comedy Club, and learn about mindful drinking habits with Dan Shell.

The Cuddle Club, a company dedicated to bringing dog therapy to work and education spaces, will also be delivering a talk.

We know all about having a great time. After all, our New Year’s resolution was to ‘Choose Life’. But it’s crucial to keep on top of your well-being. We think these talks will provide some inspiration on how to do that for yourself and your team.

Last but by no means list is Land Beyond’s takeover on Saturday. They’ll be spinning some thrilling electronic music for the evening, finishing off our pop-up event in style and ensuring all attendees go home happy.
