Meet the promoters paving the way for drive-in events

If there’s anything this pandemic has shown us, it’s that the events industry is incredibly resilient and adapts incredibly quickly to this ever-changing landscape. One such promoter is ParknParty, supported by Jessica Morris and Claire Zulu. The duo have been helping put on socially distant events across the year such as ScareCity, and have now ventured into Christmas events. We chatted to Jess about setting up an event during COVID-19 and how ChristmasCity is set to bring back the cheer in our lives.

  1. Hiya Jess, thanks for taking time to chat to us! Let’s start off by of course, asking a typical COVID question. How have you had to adapt your events and how have you found the whole process?

Thanks guys! Well first off, ParknParty is a business born out of COVID circumstances, so we’re basically a purpose-built concept for these strange times! You could attend one of our events without even cracking a window as you can enjoy it all from the comfort and safety of your car.

Unfortunately, due to the latest lockdown measures, we had to postpone our last couple of weeks of ScareCity. We were gutted to have to close, but we’re so excited to welcome our customers back for Christmas!

  1. Can you tell us what ChristmasCity is all about and what audiences can expect?

ChristmasCity is all about bringing festive joy to the public during these crazy times! Make your way through Santa’s magical mailroom, along Snow Valley, past the candy cane forest & enjoy many more festive surpises before parking up to watch your favourite Crimbo film.

We’ve split our events into two categories – Naughty and Nice!

Nice are the perfect child-friendly event for all the family. Films include Home Alone, The Polar Express, Elf, The Grinch and many many more! Post your letter to Santa in our post-box and explore the North Pole from the safety of your car. Our cheeky elves are on hand performing acrobatics and tricks as you watch the film – there will also be a special message from the fat man himself.

Naughty is all about the pleasures of the North Pole – but naughty style! Films include The Holiday, Bad Santa, Die Hard and Love Actually. There may be appearances from some scantily dressed elves and what’s Santa doing?! Has he drunk too much sherry again?! This immersive cinema experience is the perfect evening out without the kiddos.

  1. How would you say ChristmasCity is setting the bar for events during COVID-19?

It’s safe to say that this year has been a tough one. We want to bring joy to the public when a lot of other attractions might be closed. There’s been a few drive-in cinemas that have popped up in our area, but we go the extra mile to give you an EXPERIENCE.

  1. What would you recommend to other promoters setting up events during this time?

It’s tough out there, but if you get it right, you could be onto something huge! People need things to look forward to during Covid-19 lockdowns and restrictions, so keep working hard to bring something exciting to your community.

We’ve seen a fair amount of drive-in events throughout the pandemic, but what’s so important about ChristmasCity is the atmosphere and experience. Hopefully this will inspire more creative covid-safe events and we’re looking forward to the mulled wine galore! If you’d like to list your drive-in events with us, then speak to Account Support or your dedicated Account Manager.
