People welcoming New Year in all over the world

All around the world people are celebrating to mark the end of 2012 and the start of 2013. New Zealand and Australia were the first countries to start throwing the first major parties of 2013.

Loads of people started to get together on Monday night in Sydney all waiting for Sydney’s internationally renowned firework display and party.

Most other major cities throughout the world also plan to have similar celebrations to welcome in the New Year.

For the first time ever, Burma will also celebrate the New Year, large public gatherings had previously been banned by the previous totalitarian military government.

It’s also expected that tens of thousands of people will turn out in Rangoon which will see a massive fireworks display as well as performances by Burmese entertainers which will also be broadcast live on Burmese TV, in a move the new transitional government hopes will demonstrate the country’s liberalisation.

Thousands of clubs have called off their planned New Year’s Eve celebrations across India (as has the Indian military) following the death of a victim of a brutal gang rape last week.

European cities and many African cities will be next to see the New Year in, including Moscow, Paris and the UK’s biggest New Year’s Eve party in London as well as Hogmanay in Edinburgh (a celebration that has already seen large scale crowds on the streets on Scotland’s capital.

Rio de Janeiro’s Copacabana Beach is expected to get somewhere in the region of 2 million people this year – and that certainly might be the place to be!

Or New York bringing the New Year in with it’s traditional count down.

No matter where you are in the world, New Year’s Eve offers a massive opportunity to event promoters. In the UK, Skiddle is lucky, privileged and proud to be the nations biggest New Year’s Eve What’s On Guide once again this year.
