Skiddle Defies Pundits’ Predictions with Record Breaking New Year’s Eve Ticket Sales

There has been a lot of talk in the live events industry about New Year’s Eve 2012 being a bit of a damp squib. However, early data from Skiddle.com – which boasts the largest nation-wide New Year’s Eve What’s on Guide – indicates increased buoyancy in the sector.

In the run up to New Year’s Eve, industry pundits had predicted low ticket sales and a general decline in New Year’s Eve door revenues for the first time in years, blaming the predicted shrinkage on the recessions of the past couple of years, government spending cuts and stagnant salaries.

Indeed, many early reports from the retail sector seemed to back up the pundits’ concerns about New Year’s Eve, with trends indicating Christmas sales were slow at best, with many consumers opting for an austerity Christmas in 2012.

Sales of New Year’s Eve tickets in 2012 broke all previous records, with the cities with the most New Year’s Eve event goers including London, Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds, Birmingham, Sheffield, Edinburgh, Newcastle and Glasgow, whilst most cities in the UK showed a significant increase in New Year’s Eve ticket sales.
