You may have recently seen that we announced the rollout of Apple Pay as a payment option at checkout, for customers using the Safari web and app browser.

In brief, this means event-goers using an iPhone or iPad – can now optionally use the quick and easy-to-use Apple Pay service when purchasing their tickets via Skiddle.

Speaking about the recent deployment of the new payment method, our Head of Development, David Parkinson said:

“Over the last week, transactions made on the web using Apple Pay have jumped from 0% to just under 20%. The payment method allows our customers to checkout in about half the time it would usually take to pay by card and subsequently, the decline rate is now around 50% lower.”

“Overall, Apple Pay offers a quicker and much smoother checkout process, in keeping with Skiddle’s four pillars – Simplicity, Authentic, Challenging and Customer First.”

Improving user access to the RapidScan app

In the coming weeks, we’ll be improving user access to the RapidScan app, enabling you to give members of your team quick access to your account without the need for creating unique passwords or sharing sensitive details.

When a new user is added, a QR code will be generated giving staff scanning tickets on the doors/gates at your events access to your account. For each of the users you create, you’ll also be able to set a range of limitations, to either restrict their access to certain functions and/or details.

Here are some of the settings and permissions you’ll be able to assign to QR code users:

  • Set scanner location, so any device logged in with this QR code automatically has this location set
  • Set permission levels of the account, i.e. scanning only with no view of stats or box office, or supervisor, with access to all areas etc.
  • Set a supervisor PIN that can be used quickly and temporarily to unlock areas of the app that a user with fewer permissions would not normally be able to see, i.e. a user that has scan-only permissions could enter the PIN to view stats temporarily etc.
  • Set a list of allowed events for the user to prevent them from seeing all events by the promoter. Any disallowed events can be revealed by entering a supervisor’s PIN

Keep your eyes peeled for more details regarding the rollout of QR code log-in functionality via RapidScan, in the weeks to come.
