Welcome to Skiddle’s Promoter Update. This week, we’ll be talking about festival launches, our Blue Monday ‘Booking Fee Free Day’ and our London festival pop-up event. Elsewhere, the Blog Spotlight feature returns, showcasing some of this week’s content over on the Promotion Centre Blog.

Festive Launches

Have you made preparations for listing a festival? The weather outside might be cold and rainy, but promoters across the country are getting ready to launch festivals in time for the summer. It’s worth getting started nice and early. Historically, the end of January is a busy time for festival ticket purchases, and our festival guide can get your event in front of our user base of four million people.

It’s the biggest guide of its kind. When you list your festival with us, you’ll get a slick page with all the details of the event and a neatly organised collection of the artists playing. In addition, our FAQs rank high on Google, which means potential attendees will be able to find event information with ease.

Our Payment Plan builder, located in the Beta Promotion Centre, is an intuitive tool that allows you to offer customers the chance to buy tickets and spread the payment out over a few months. This can give customers an incentive to buy early, and you can push it in your marketing as the festival is approaching to secure those last-minute sales.

Skiddle’s RapidScan app is available across iOS & Android, allowing you to keep track of people attending, arriving and leaving your event. This is paramount for safety. In addition, each ticket can be scanned in around one second, meaning you can get customers through the gates quickly. Less waiting time means lots of happy customers.

To get your event listed in our festival guide, contact your dedicated Account Manager or our Account Support team on 03333010301. For information on the assistance Skiddle can provide to your festival, click here to view our article ‘How to… Put on your own festival’.

Blog Spotlight

Funding your event can be a challenge, especially if you’re a promoter working independently. New on the Promotion Centre blog this week is a piece titled ‘How to gain sponsorships and brand partnerships’. It takes a look at the process of forging a partnership like this, with tips on how to generate an idea and nail the pitch. Click here to read.

Brand partnerships and sponsorships can help your festival get to the next level, with partnerships allowing you to achieve things bigger and better than the previous year. See the article for inspiration.

Booking Fee Free Day

The third Monday of January is said to be a gloomy day for the population. Experts have dubbed it ‘Blue Monday’, with weather, debt and the end of the festive period as some of the contributing factors. In our open letter at the end of last year, we opted to ‘Choose Life’, so to give customers some respite against these so-called January blues, we’ll be waiving booking fees on Monday 16th January.

The booking fee will be charged as normal on the Monday and then credited back to the customer’s account by 5pm on Tuesday 17th January, and they’ll have to use it by 23:59 on the 14th of February. It’s important to note that this deal won’t affect your remittance or event revenue. If you have any questions, contact your dedicated Account Manager or our Account Support team on 03333010301.

Before you go…

At the end of February we’ll be ‘popping up’ in London with four days of free events in Shoreditch. Keep your eyes peeled as we’ll be releasing more info soon…
