Skiddle Update: Instagram poll results, blog spotlight, promotion centre changes and more

Welcome to Skiddle’s Promoter Update. This week, we’ll be digging into the results from our recent New Year’s Eve Instagram poll and looking at how the data can help you with planning your end-of-year events. Elsewhere, we’ll be highlighting the deadlines for listing New Year’s events with us this year, as well as sharing some of our most recent entries over on the Skiddle Promotion Centre Blog.

New Year’s Eve Instagram poll results

Last week, we ran a short poll with our audience via Instagram stories. The poll asked eventgoers to choose what was most important to them on a New Year’s Eve night out. We’ve collated the results from said short survey into four easy-to-read pie charts, to help you fine-tune your upcoming New Year events to better cater to the needs of your customers.

63% of our audience said value for money stood out to them. Super early bird and early bird tickets can help here, you can promote the strength of your lineup and how attendees can get a great deal by purchasing tickets early. Bulk deals are an option, too. If your customers can see that you’re offering them a chance to see their favourite acts with their friends for a lower price, they’ll feel like they are getting a good deal.

You could also consider a collaboration with the venue at which your event is taking place, to offer a free drink to all attendees with an early-bird ticket. This way, there’s a double incentive to buy. The entry is cheaper, and the customer will receive something free if they commit to attending your event early.

Event atmosphere received 63% of the votes, genre received 36% and line-up quality received 39%. These things work in tandem. Try to book a mix of popular talent from the genre you promote in, as well as local talent with a reputation for delivering knockout sets. Spend some time listening to mixes from acts and place them in a position on the bill where they can make the most impact. It’s no good having a DJ or performer known for playing a set full of energy at the start of the night. Good curation will have a positive effect on the atmosphere of your night.

The poll below shows that price of drinks is important to 72% of voters, but food and drink options was only important to 12%. 12% of the voters picked waiting times at the bar, while 4% felt that security levels and respectful staff were important to them.

Blog spotlight

We’re always trying to find new ways to deliver valuable content to our readership over on our Promotion Centre Blog.

As we move into the festive period and as the end of the year gets closer, much of the focus has been on writing articles to help you deliver the best events you can this New Year’s Eve.

To give you an insight into how Skiddle can help you achieve this, we published ’10 ways Skiddle can ensure your New Year’s Eve events run smoothly’. The Promotion Centre is a powerful tool with many features that can take the stress away from promoting. Whether it’s the Skiddle Queue or simply the means of listing an event, there is something among the features to help promoters at any level. Click here to read the piece.

NYE Promoter Guide

In last week’s update, we spoke about our recently launched New Year’s Eve Promoter Guide, which you can download here. The NYE Promoter guide is a three thousand word document with information on how to best promote your events. It includes advice on ticket types, marketing and offering discounts for your night.

If you’re a newcomer to promoting events or a stalwart of the nightlife scene in your city, Skiddle’s NYE Promoter Guide can give you valuable tips on delivering a memorable night for your customers.

Regional Newsletter dates

Our regional newsletters will continue to run weekly right up until New Year’s Eve, landing in the inboxes of over 600,000 Skiddle customers. That’s a total of seventeen days. Ideally, your event will have been listed for a while now, and you’ll be in the middle of the promotion lifecycle. If you haven’t, consider listing an event to take advantage of the surge in traffic around this time.

If your event is up and running, spend the next couple of weeks making sure the description is optimised, with clear information on what your event will be and where it will take place. Detailed event descriptions will give you a better chance of ranking on search engines, and people will be more likely to buy if they have a clear idea of the night itself.

We published an article titled ‘When’s best to start promoting a New Year’s event?’ on the Skiddle Promoter Blog. Click here to read it. The article looks back at historical data from our website, which can give you an idea of when people begin to search for their NYE events.

Promotion Centre changes

The Promotion Centre is our flagship tool for assisting promoters with organising events. It’s powerful and intuitive, but we’re always looking for ways to improve the user experience.

We’ve made a change to the time you’ll have to notify us about an event with a new date. If the event is postponed with a date to be confirmed, you’ll have seven days to notify us of the new date. Previously, this was set at twenty-eight days, due to complications in confirming date changes during Covid.

We feel that issuing a shorter timeframe to notify us of the change will make the process more efficient. This shorter window will lead to fewer delays, chargebacks and complaints.

Click here to view the article on how to update your event in the Legacy Promotion Centre once your new date is confirmed.

When you’ve notified us of the new date, the customers will be notified automatically and the refund window will be open.
