Welcome to Skiddle’s Promoter Update. This week, we’ll be taking a look at our Payment Plan builder and how you can use it to sell tickets for your event or festival. Elsewhere, we’ve got news on our London pop-up event, the NTIA’s Night Time Economy Summit, and our weekly blog spotlight feature.

Selling tickets with our Payment Plan builder

Would you like to sell more tickets to your event or festival? Entice customers with a fantastic deal? Increase income to achieve your goals? That’s where Skiddle’s Payment Plan comes in.

It’s a simple concept. You – the promoter – can set the dates where the plan will run, set the deposit amount and control the number of instalments your customers pay. The builder will create an example schedule based on your choices so you can see how the plan will look before it goes live.

With a payment plan, your customers can commit early to your event or festival. For them, they can plan their finances easier, because they know exactly when the money for their festival ticket will leave their account. But, what if they decide closer to the start date? Even better. The prospect of paying a large sum of money in a short time period is taken away.

This means more sales for you. When you’ve made your payment plan live, ensure that you make it a prominent part of your marketing. Affordability is often a deal breaker, so you’re more likely to attract customers if you have one in place.

The customer agrees to the payment plan by paying their deposit. The deposit fee cannot be refunded, and no claim can be made to recover the money unless your event is postponed or cancelled. Each payment is taken on or around the first of every month, with thirty days between the deposit and the first instalment of the plan.

Would you like to drive more sales to your event or festival? Scroll down to find out how.

Add an event

You’ll need to create an event before you add a payment plan. If you already know how to do this, skip to step two. If not, click here to find out how to add an event in the Beta Promotion Centre.

Create a Payment Plan

On the Beta Promotion Centre dashboard, pictured below, scroll down and find the event you want to add a payment plan for.

You’ll be taken to the event page once you’ve clicked it. On the left-hand side, click ‘Manage Tickets’. This will reveal a dropdown box with the option to ‘View Tickets’. Click that to get to the next stage. You’ll then be taken to your tickets screen, which shows your Ticket Summary. Select ‘Add Payment Plan’ from the options above.

You’ll then be taken to the Payment Plan builder. As you can see below, we’ve set the start date and time of our payment plan, and the wizard has calculated the example schedule.

As we scroll down, we’ve set the pricing. Our deposit is set at £25, with three more payments of £25 to follow. That’s because the total price of our ticket is £100.

The builder allows you to set the number of instalments. So, you could set it anywhere from 1 to 8 instalments. We recommend three, as that’s a standard number for plans like this.

Finally, you can set a description of your plan and then click create.

Night Time Economy Summit

Have you kept the 9th & 10th of February free in your diary? It’s the Night Time Economy Summit. If mental health in the industry, sustainable practices, data and its effect on innovation piques your interest, head down to E1 and be a part of building the future of nightlife.

We’ll be there, too. Skiddle’s Duncan King will moderate a panel alongside Sacha Lord, Julie Tippins and more, which will launch the National Promoter Society, a venture by Skiddle’s Jamie Scahill and the NTIA’s Michael Kill. Catch the panel from 12pm on the first day of the event, directly after a talk from keynote speaker Harvey Goldsmith CBE.

Over 300 promoters have already signed up for the NPS. Click here to join them.
